The study drug is being developed as a potential new treatment for Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HH).
Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HH) is a genetic disorder that causes the body to absorb too much iron from the gut.
The only approved and safe treatment for iron overload in patients with HH is to remove large volumes of iron in red blood cells by phlebotomy (similar to blood donation). This requires regular blood donations, which can be uncomfortable. It also cannot completely maintain the iron levels within the recommended range. It is hoped that this study drug is an alternative treatment method that could partially or completely remove the need for phlebotomy.
** For this study, we are looking for participants who have been diagnosed with iron deficiency or Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HH).
The trial has been approved by an independent ethics committee and eligible participants will be reimbursed for their time.
