Covid-19 vaccine study

There are currently no vaccines available against Coronavirus, nor any effective medicines to treat COVID-19. Treatments currently used against COVID 19 treat the side effects of the disease and do not work on the cause of the disease.

The vaccine in this study is a re-combinant vaccine which means it only uses a specific protein on the surface of the virus (called the spike protein) along with an additional protein sequence, referred to as the molecular clamp, that holds the protein in the right shape. This protein has been grown and purified from a cell culture system free of the virus. This allows the body to produce an immune response that’s targeted to the key parts of the virus, without exposing you to the virus. Therefore there is no risk of being exposed to coronavirus from receiving this vaccine.

This study has been approved by an independent ethics committee, and participants will be reimbursed for their time.
