Phase 1 clinical trials play a vital role in the development of new medication. Without them, there would be no new treatments or vaccines. By participating, you help to advance medicines & improve lives.
Some people have concerns about the safety of participating in a clinical trial, so below we want to answer some questions & debunk some myths. If you have more questions, you can always have a look at our FAQ page or give us a call on 1800 243 733.
None of the healthy volunteers in our clinical trials have ever died or suffered any kind of significant long-term negative impact on their health. It is absolutely our main priority with every new clinical trial to ensure that it stays that way. Our medical teams are staffed by people who genuinely care about contributing to the health and wellbeing of the local, national and global communities. They take pride in their work, and they understand completely that every participant is a vital partner in this project.
At the same time, we want to be honest and transparent about the fact that there is always going to be some level of risk. To suggest otherwise would be dishonest. We do everything we can to make our clinical trials as safe as possible, but if you don't feel comfortable taking medication that is being investigated, participating in a phase 1 clinical trial might not be for you.
All new medication goes through a rigorous process to even make it to the stage where a clinical trial can begin. Clinical trials are strictly regulated and highly complex and are not started lightly. Only the most promising new medication will make it past pre-clinical trials to be given to humans in one of our studies.
